Strategic Plan
Uganda National Association of
Private Schools and Institutions (UNAPSI) is a membership organization
representing private schools, and private institutions countrywide. Our mission
is provide a national unified voice for private education and as the center for
collective action on behalf of its membership.
We strive to serve and strengthen
member schools, institutions and associations by articulating and promoting
high standards of educational quality and ethical behavior. We promote and
protect the interests of Private Schools and Institutions, their owners,
operators, parents and students and interact with members to ensure private
education sector meets the needs of Ugandans.
We intend to initiate a consultative,
co-operative and communicative approach to dealing with Government, educational
organizations, media, community groups and the public. We intend to offer a
broad variety of services to our member schools and institutions.
UNAPSI Proposed Programs

Country Diagnostic Survey / Study of Private Schools and Institutions.

National Census of all private schools and Institutions.

Establishment of a Database for private schools and institutions.

Organizational Capacity Building of UNAPSI.

Carry out Consultation workshops with private schools stakeholders and
associations.

Promote the awareness and sensitization of UNAPSI activities and objectives.

Develop a General interactive website for UNAPSI private schools and
institutions.

Design and formulate general code of ethics for private schools in Uganda .

Develop a National Directory of Private Schools and Institutions.

Establish a Resource center for Private schools.
- Organize
orientation study visits to other country’s Private Schools Associations.
Our mission
Our
mission is based on the following Objectives;
· Represent Private Schools and
Private educational institutions.
· Recognize, encourage and
improve the quality of private schools and Institutions education.
· Engage freely in all lawful
activities and efforts that may advance or enhance goals for private Education
leadership.
· Educational standards for all to
emulate.
· Encourage the Accreditation
process.
· Provide a source for
consulting services, conferences, workshops and news of mutual interest.
Advocate
for and on behalf of the private schools and institution to the Ministry of
Education and other Government entities.
· Establish an educational
program to represent views and beliefs to the general public and the
educational establishment and government.

joining UNAPSI, you and your school:

Are recognized as being associated with UNAPSI, an organization that is
recognized/approved by the Ministry of Education.

organization representing only private school and other interests.

standards of operation, including the UNAPSI Code of Ethics governing private
school management.

Gain a voice in national councils where educational policy is formed.

pending legislation, laws and procedures affecting accounting, taxes,
insurance, personnel practices, and other areas of operation. UNAPSI keeps you
up-to-date via newsletters, educational conferences, and regional meeting.

challenges and successful ideas. Attending our annual conferences and regional
meetings not only gives you fresh perspective, but also fresh enthusiasm.

Participate in UNAPSI’s professional development programs on curriculum,

personnel management, and other topics – and you help to set the agenda. UNAPSI
also engages professionals of national caliber to share their expertise with
you.

Have input into shaping UNAPSI programs, services, and policies, for we not
only value your participation, but your counsel as well.
Code of Ethics.
Unlike of other associations, UNAPSI
membership is covering all national private schools and institutions allover
the country.
·
Schools shall clearly state its philosophies, goals and purposes, and all
conduct should be consistent with philosophy and goals.
·
Proprietors, administrators, and teachers will fulfill their professional
responsibilities with honesty and integrity.
·
School promotional materials and advertisements shall reflect a high regard for
accuracy and , accordingly, will regularly be updated.
·
School’s enrolment practices shall be consistent with written policies and
procedures Qualified students shall be admitted without regard to ethnic
background or any other specific handicaps.
·
Schools will make available to parents or guardians of prospective students
information concerning financial responsibility to the school, as well as the
school’s policy regarding refunds.
·
Upon enrollment, student record will be requested from the former school and
then maintained in a professional manner. Upon receipt of a properly signed,
written request from another school, records or transcripts which may be
helpful in determining qualification for admission will be promptly forwarded.
The exception to this would be if all accounts were not paid in full.
·
Confidentiality among schools concerning the school community (students,
teachers, parents etc.) shall be respected.
· Employment contracts between
schools and employees will be respected by all parties.
·
School and its employees will neither solicit the school community nor allow
school directories or mailing lists to be used by others for purposes,
unrelated to the educational program.
·
Schools will seek good faith mediation from UNAPSI when disputes arise with
clients, staff, fellow associates, parents, guardians, students and avoid
unfair, competitive practices and possibly initiate legal proceedings.

school are:
· Involvement in a national
organization assisting owner operated schools and establishing standards of
credibility and performance.

Mentors in the self-study and evaluation process, to better your school, by
fellow professionals and representatives from peer schools.
·
An outside team of evaluators that attest to your student’s parents and the
community as a whole, the quality and professionalism of your school.
·
An introduction to other schools, colleges/institutions and education interest
groups of your commitment to standards.
